A great opportunity to ride with the family around the same course the criterium races have just been held on. What a wonderful opportunity for the kids to feel a part of the Port Douglas Gran Fondo Festival!

You’ll have an hour to ride as many laps as you like before the final lap bell rings and you cross the finish line for the last time.

There will be AMAZING PRIZES for Best Dressed Family, Best Dressed Individual and Best Dressed Bike.

Cheered on by the crowd gathering for the Cairns Post Criterium and the upcoming Hemingway’s Brewery Sprint, the Choo Choos FREE Family Ride is the perfect way for the family to have some fun together and be active.

Entries are essential, and numbers are strictly limited, so ensure you enter as soon as you decide to ride!

On the day, please come to the registration desk to collect your wristband which will provide access to the track!

ENTRY PRICE: FREE

  • Ride Date: Saturday, 7 September 2024
  • Ride Time: 4:30pm – 5:30pm
  • Start Line: Wharf Street, Port Douglas (in front of the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina)
  • Distance: 2.2km laps (ride as many laps as you like)
  • Finish Line / Festival Expo Location: Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina
  • Minimum Age: All Family Riders must be at least 4 years old on the day of the ride. Kids 3 years and younger can join the ride via a tag-along or bike seat.
  • E-Bikes, recumbents, tandems and time trial bikes ARE permitted in the Choo Choos FREE Family Ride (para cyclists are permitted to ride modified bikes to suit their needs)
  • Entries Close: 4:00pm Saturday, 7 September 2024
  • Entries on the day will be accepted at the registration desk
  • Insurance: AusCycling membership NOT required. Please note that your entry does not include any insurance for bikes and accessories. It is recommended that individuals consider their own insurance.
